*Melanie Pleasant*

Before Melanie was adopted by Daniel Pleasant
there was a major shake-up in the family.
It was not the happy Pleasantview home that a lot of people thought it was.
It had taken a lot of years to get to there,
but Daniel and Mary Sue's troubled marriage had reached a breaking point.
Daniel had taken as much abuse as he could stand.
Mary Sue tried to make amends for being such a cold,
money grubbing wife and mother -
it was just too late.
Daniel had no interest in listening to all her lame excuses.
He told her that he wanted a divorce and to hit the bricks!

Daniel and Mary Sue Pleasant's marriage was officially OVER!
I guess splitting up with Mary Sue built up an appetite for Daniel.
And so it ended -
Mary Sue left the Pleasant house for parts unknown to start a new life.
(Or so it seemed,...)
Daniel didn't rush into anything
and waited a few weeks before calling the adoption agency.
Mary Sue didn't quite walk off into the sunset as much
as Daniel would have liked her to.
She returned for OFTEN for revenge,
kicking over the garbage can, stealing the newspaper
and peeping through the windows.
He didn't want to bring a new child into the house with all of that going on.
By the time Melanie arrived
Mary Sue wasn't coming around that much anymore.
And Melanie was welcomed with open arms by her new dad!
Melanie thought Lilith was the coolest teenage girl in the world
and having her for a sister was real special for her.
And she thought Angela was the nicest teenage girl she'd ever met
and thought having her for a sister was super special.
She fit right in and there wasn't anything they
talked about that Melanie didn't find totally fascinating!!!
Although the subject of Daniel and Mary Sue's divorce
did get tabled more than a few times.
Daniel encouraged his daughter's to talk about anything
they had on their minds and they did, especially Lilith.
Both Angela and Lilith agreed with the divorce
and thought their father was a lot happier without their mother.

Not long after Melanie joined the family
Angela and Lilith went off to college.
It was tough on her when they left.
She missed them a LOT!

And it hurt Daniel to see his new daughter so sad
and after a bit of thought he came up with an idea.
He decided a trip to the pet store might help cheer up Melanie.

When he asked Melanie if she'd like to go to the pet store
and pick out a pet, she was THRILLED!!!
But she couldn't decide if she wanted a dog or a cat?
Daniel came up with the perfect solution and
told Melanie she could have BOTH!
They decided to pick out a dog first.
Melanie thought he was wonderful and named him Rolo!
When it came to getting a cat that was a bit hard to choose.
After taking quite a lot time looking,
it was a BIG orange tabby cat
with bright green eyes that captured her heart.
And Melanie named her Ruby.

Ruby loved getting Melanie's hugs
but it was getting down to some serious playtime that mattered most.
Unfortunately once they got home with Rolo and Ruby
one of the neighborhood strays ran over and tried to get bossy.
But Ruby held her own and didn't let the stray push her around.
Melanie didn't waste any time in beginning to train Rolo.
And while she was training her pets to be the smartest dog and cat on the block
Melanie was getting super smart herself!
Next thing Daniel knew,..
,..his new daughter was having a very special birthday!
It was time for Melanie to teen up!

She poofed into a beautiful young woman
and Daniel was very proud of how his youngest daughter turned out!
And a typical teen she was -
racing for the phone EVERY time it rang!
And it was while she was on the phone
that Melanie met up with Mary Sue for the first time.
(As she walked by the house snooping on what Daniel was up to).
Mary Sue tried to be nice but Melanie wasn't impressed -
Angela and Lilith has told her enough to know that Mary Sue
wasn't anyone she wanted to get close to.
That's it for Melanie -
there will be more on her when I share an update
on all the Adoptables On Campus!
Next Up -
Nicole Burb!
